For International Literacy Day, DDL and Storyweaver Join Forces to Bring More Digital Kids Books to Afghanistan

Today, International Literacy Day, the Darakht-e Danesh Library (DDL) is delighted to announce the launch of a partnership with Pratham Books’ Storyweaver program, an open source digital platform of multilingual children’s storybooks. Our teams worked together to make the entire Storyweaver platform available as part of the Darakht-e Danesh Library. Users can now access all of Storyweaver’s resources directly from the DDL site: www.darakhtdanesh.org

The integration of our sites makes available a wealth of new titles for children, in Pashto and Farsi. DDL and Storyweaver have also worked together to localize Storyeaver’s Reading Programme, an easy-to-use six-months guided learning program packed with a curated collection of fabulous books for grades 1 to 8, themes, and activities, that help children progressively build their reading skills, through engaging age-appropriate material.

It is our hope that these new digital resources will support Afghan children to learn safely during these challenging times where learning opportunities in person have been so severely limited. Check out Storyweaver resources from DDL, use them with your children or students, and let us know what you think!
