DD Classroom Overview

Darakht-e Danesh Classroom (DD Classroom) is our online high school for Afghan students. DD Classroom offers a combined Afghan and Canadian curriculum, and, upon completion of Grade 12, graduates receive an internationally recognized high school diploma.

DD Classroom reconnects Afghan youth — particularly female youth — with quality education, restores hope, and opens opportunities for students to pursue higher education.

In addition to the primary use of DD Classroom as an online high school, the virtual platform is also used by third parties to teach university classes, training seminars, continuing education, basic literacy, life skills, and more.

Keeping Doors to Education Open for Afghan students:

Hundreds of thousands of Afghan girls have lost access to education due to the regime change, restrictions on female education, and displacement to neighboring countries where attending school is too often out of reach.

Research demonstrates that the longer a child’s education is interrupted, the less likely they are to ever return to school.

Education is the shortest path to agency and empowerment, and our DD Classroom reconnects youth with quality education, regardless of circumstance.

What Does DD Classroom Offer?

Some of our major operations are:

  1. Teaching Beyond Boundaries
DD Classroom offers live teaching sessions for Afghan students in grades seven to 10.
  2. Operating Digital Learning Centers (DLCs)
We worked with local partners to establish Digital Learning Center in Pakistan and Turkey to provide education to displaced Afghans. Designed with a 20-station computer lab in a classroom-like space, Afghan students can access synchronous and asynchronous classes and courses in the DLCs.
  3. Supporting Students in Need
We aim to support students who have limited internet access with data packages.
  4. Integrating Technology with Curriculum
We use up to date methodologies to deliver classes. We utilize live sessions to actively engage the entire class, while also providing recorded lesson videos for asynchronous learning. This approach accommodates individuals who may encounter difficulties connecting to live sessions, promoting accessibility and flexibility in learning.
